Description
Interferential Therapy (IFT) is an advanced electrotherapy technique used in physiotherapy to relieve pain, reduce swelling, and speed up tissue healing. It involves applying two medium-frequency electrical currents that intersect within the body to produce a low-frequency stimulation deep in the tissues. This deep stimulation helps increase blood circulation, reduce muscle spasms, and block pain signals reaching the brain.
The therapy sessions are comfortable, with a gentle tingling sensation experienced by the patient. Since IFT stimulates endorphin release (the body’s natural painkillers), it offers long-lasting relief. It is a non-invasive, drug-free method used widely in both acute and chronic pain management. Regular IFT sessions can improve joint movement, reduce stiffness, and accelerate recovery after injury or surgery.
