Description
Ultrasound Therapy is a therapeutic technique widely used in physiotherapy for pain relief, tissue repair, and inflammation control. It works by emitting high-frequency sound waves from a handheld device applied to the affected area using a special gel. These sound waves penetrate deep into muscles, tendons, and joints, producing a mild thermal effect that increases blood flow and cellular activity.
Depending on the treatment goal, physiotherapists can use thermal or non-thermal (pulsed) ultrasound. Thermal ultrasound helps in chronic pain and stiffness, while pulsed ultrasound is used for acute injuries to stimulate tissue repair without heating. The therapy is comfortable, safe, and usually lasts 5–10 minutes per session.
